Lawson’s Dry Hills becomes NZ’s most sustainably certified wine producer
NEWS Business South Magazine – May 2026
Lawson’s Dry Hills have come a long way from its humble beginnings more than four decades ago, with just one vineyard planted by founders Ross and Barbara Lawson’s in 1982. In addition to becoming an internationally renowned wine brand, exporting to over 20 markets, they have developed a strong philosophy on environmental sustainability.
That commitment to sustainability has been a defining milestone for the company, alongside a range of awards that recognised its wines and wider business practices. Among those accolades is the Excellence in Sustainability Award from the New Zealand International Business Awards in December 2023 and more recently winning Excellence in the Sustainability category at the Marlborough Business Awards in November 2025.
As New Zealand’s most sustainably certified wine producer, their vision is to lead New Zealand in sustainable wine production and, as a result, continue to grow a thriving, global wine business for us, the Marlborough region and New Zealand.
