Meet our Artist of the Month for March, Chayne Hultgren; who shares with us a little about himself, his winning entry ‘Born To Be Wild’ and why this visual and performance artist likes to live on the razor’s edge.
Hailing from Byron Bay, Australia; Chayne, better known as The Space Cowboy from his career as a performance artist – famed for acts from sword swallowing to chainsaw juggling. More recently, he has turned his hand, (and paintbrush), to creating a bold fusion of figurative and abstract elements with his brush strokes.
Chayne had this to say about winning, “I’m so happy to have won the People’s Choice Award — it means a lot that so many people felt something from the work. Maybe it was the PINK wine, but there’s definitely a bit of playful chaos in there!” He goes on to say, that his art is about pushing boundaries, inspiring others to take risks, and challenging norms. “My creative process is all about experimentation and exploration,” says this Guinness Book of Records holder of swallowing 27 swords at one time!
