This weekend was the tenth anniversary of the Marlborough Book Festival and what a great weekend it was! The event featured 23 sessions with 17 authors speaking at the Blenheim’s ASB Theatre, the new Library and Astrolabe’s Small Town Winery.
Lawson’s Dry Hills was again one of four winery sponsors, and it was a pleasure to offer our Reserve wines and the very special RANU to festival attendees.
I was honoured to interview Nici Wickes – a foodie full of passion who swapped corporate life in Auckland to a small batch by the sea, via extensive globetrotting while filming the TV series, ‘World Kitchen’. Her two latest books, ‘A Quiet Kitchen’ and, ‘More from a Quiet Kitchen’ focus on deliciously doable, nurturing dishes for one (or two if you’re really hungry, says Nici). But more than just recipe books, the writing delivers a wonderfully warming account of being a single person who has truly grown into her true self and is happy and fulfilled as a result.
If you’re more into video that words, you can enjoy Nici’s Instagram which she started during lockdown to help people cook with whatever they had in their pantry. She delivers inspiring recipes within a mere minute or so, packed with her signature, relatable style and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
