Welcome

You’ll always receive a warm welcome at our home on Alabama Road. There’s at least six wines open for you to taste and often something a little unusual such as one of our very limited Pioneer wines. We have been known to offer a taste of our rich and hedonistic ‘sticky’ wines too and sometimes a little something from Blind River. Visit us during harvest and you can taste the juice from grapes pressed that day!

We also offer local cheeses, cured meats and salmon so you can ‘pick your own platter’ or bring your own picnic and enjoy some nibbles with a glass of our wine.

The picturesque courtyard affords views of our famous hills – the ones that are on our label – and you can see the original illustration hanging on the cellar door wall.

Whilst there isn’t enough room for all our gold medals – there are a few on display as well as a number of our trophies, both national and international.

T-towels, caps and notebooks are also on offer, so you can choose a souvenir from your visit.

Our Wine Room Manager is Nigel, but you may also meet Nevena, Julia or Carol all of whom look forward to showing you our home and our wines.

And don’t forget to jump on Google, Trip Advisor and Facebook to share your experience!

Excellent winery experience. Lawson’s Dry Hills was the first winery we visited on our self guided tour today. Nevena was welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable and the wines she offered were all delectable. It was a great start to our day as she gave us lots of tips for the Marlborough area and other places to visit too. We would highly recommend anyone visit here and we are sure you will enjoy your visit as much as we did. Thank you again Nevena.

One of the best wineries in New Zealand! This is a must do cellar door visit when in Marlborough as we think it is one of the best wineries in New Zealand. Our cellar door experience with Nevena was delightful.....she was welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Disappointed that their Gewurztraminer wasn't on tasting....but then most people probably already know how sensational it is already 🙂 All the wines we tried were delicious, well made and value for money but the stand out for us was the reserve chardonnay that we will patiently (or maybe not) wait for it to improve over the next few years!

A fantastic cellar door experience Enjoyed the wine tasting experience greatly. Attendant was most friendly, knew their product and local knowledge extremely well! Able to combine awesome wines with some other local produce onsite to prepare our picnic in the valley. Best cheers to the Marlborough wine growers and their teams. A quality product that was worth the long journey to NZ. Highly recommend this cellar door! We eagerly the next gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris releases.

Lunch in the vineyard (BYO) Whilst researching which vine yards to visit while visiting the Marlborough area I was delighted to see a bring you own lunch option. Amazing wines on offer and wonderful helpful staff. You are invited to bring your own lunch or buy from them. They have a lovely range of wines to taste, a picturesque setting, welcoming staff ,my type of place. A great place for tasting the delights of the region and also appreciating the landscape.

One of the best wineries in the Marlborough Region, New Zealand We visited several wineries around Blenheim and this was our favorite -- informative and gracious "host," no charges, no pressure to buy, and, most important, excellent wine. The tasting center is small, but attractive with a nice cold cabinet of cheeses to purchase to take home and which complement the wines. Highly recommended!

An instructive tasting of some of Marlborough's great wines Lawson’s Dry Hills was our first stop at a Marlborough tasting room and we were well taken care of by Nigel, who professionally coached us through a good selection of the vineyard's wines including their delightful aromatics, their engaging Sauvignon Blancs, and their remarkably full-bodied Pinot Noirs. The wines are terrific, and competitively priced, and the cellar door itself is a very attractive room. We -- of course -- ended up buying a couple of bottles to drink over the next few days. Highly recommended!
