Lawson’s Dry Hills Artist of the Month

To celebrate our ongoing partnership with the newly renamed Art Show Across Aotearoa (previously the Art Shows) we are going to feature a different artist each month, starting now! We begin with Kaikoura-based Jane Riley, winner of the Lawson’s Dry Hills People’s Choice Award twice – in 2017 with her ‘Canterbury Triptych’ and again in 2020 with ‘Norwest Stratus Formation’. Jane was also runner up in 2022 with ‘Matariki’.

Jane’s artworks reflect her love of the natural environment. Her roots in Fox Glacier, beneath the spectacular Southern Alps, have deeply influenced her work with their towering peaks and blanketed rainforest foothills, leaving an enduring mark on her art. The scenes she creates are interpreted with tremendous energy, passion and flair making them strikingly vibrant with their flamboyant depth of colour and design.

Jane says, “There is magic everywhere and I aspire to inspire before I expire! I enjoy a challenge and eternally strive to better myself – brainstorming and inventing with new ideas. I love the peace and magic that comes in great times of inspiration when lost in creating. I predominantly work in oils and currently am finding great excitement mixing media.”

Be sure to check out Jane’s work on her website and follow her on Facebook.
